Credit union seeks expansion into Ithaca market

first_imgHowever, tenants come with a vision of their own (pun fully intended). Site plans submitted to the city earlier this month state the new credit union branch would be built at 410 Elmira Road, on what is currently a vacant lot fronting the Elmira Road Shopping Plaza, which houses Home Depot, Kohl’s and Buffalo Wild Wings. Widewaters Group, the Syracuse-based firm who owns the plaza, has quietly had the outparcel space on the market since at least last year, envisioning a restaurant or similar small-scale establishment would one day occupy the site, along with a sizable amount of parking. Here, Visions Federal Credit Union is proposing to build a 3,320 square-foot branch office with a parking lot containing 20 spaces and drive-up ATMs. More interestingly, the majority of the lot would be fenced in from the adjacent roadways and turned into an outdoor amphitheater. A 940 square-foot stage structure would be built at the southeast corner of the property, and the lawn would be maintained for use as an outdoor event and entertainment venue. The remainder of the property would be fitted out with stormwater retention areas, landscaping improvements, a small amount of sidewalk, electric vehicle charging stations, a pet-friendly outdoor waiting area next to the building and bike racks. Tagged: southwest Ithaca, visions federal credit union According to the Site Plan Review (SPR) document, the $1.25 million project is aiming for an October 2019 to May 2020 construction period. The number of jobs that would be created is not stated in the filing, but a bank/credit union branch office of this size typically employs eight to 10 people. Design/build firm PWCampbell of Pittsburgh is listed as the project designer, with Rochester-based Costich Engineering serving as the engineering consultant. Founded in 1966, Visions Federal Credit Union is headquartered in the Binghamton suburb of Endwell (where it recently doubled the size of its headquarters) and currently hosts 51 branch offices across three states. The not-for-profit financial institution boasts over 199,000 members, $4.1 billion in assets and 600 employees. Currently, the closest location to Tompkins County is the branch office in Spencer. Greater co-ordination planned for public health

first_img Previous Article Next Article Greater co-ordination planned for public healthOn 1 Jan 2002 in Personnel Today The Government is planning to improve the co-ordination of public healthservices at primary care level by establishing dedicated public health networksaround the country. Health minister Lord Hunt said in November the Government planned networksto “pool expertise and skills in specialist areas of public health”for GPs. Primary care trusts will also be required to appoint a director of publichealth and a specialist support team. He said each network will be able to respond to the needs of cities forpublic health advice and action programmes. “The new NHS structures will not be able to ‘match’ every localauthority boundary, but a flexible and responsive public health network will beable to support cities like Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle upon Tyne inbecoming healthy cities.” Each network will be expected to be established and designed at a locallevel, but they will be co-ordinated by regional directors of public health, who will represent the Department of Health.
