They were trying to bounce back after suffering an opening day defeat to St Catherine’s, a game where they were very unlucky not to get at least a point from. Cappry grabbed the opening goal with Colm Melaugh getting on the score sheet. Milford pulled a goal back when their captain Joey Cullen scored. It was to stay like this until half time. In the 2nd half Milford would deem themselves very unlucky not to take the lead when they spurned a few chances. Their best came from the penalty spot when Eoin Farrah Gallen pulled off an excellent save from Milford’s Mark Flood. That save proved very crucial for Cappry as Colm Melaugh grabbed his 2nd of the day when Cappry scored after a good counter attack with 15 minutes to go. A very good 3 points were claimed as Cappry held on until the final whistle.Next week we are going to be back at Cappry Park when we welcome Gweedore Celtic who are going to be looking for their 1st points of the season after suffering 2 defeats. Kick off will be at 2pm. All support welcome.Training in Cappry Park on Wednesday evening from 7pm.CAPPRY ROVERS RESERVESCappry Rovers Reserves 0-2 Keadue Rovers ReservesKeadue started this game very well and pressed the youthful home side. Keadue forced Liam O’Meara into a few good saves. In the 35th minute Adam Neeley gave O’Meara no chance with a stunning strike from 25 yards which ended up in the top corner. The visitors tried hard to get a 2nd before half time but it did not arrive. Cappry started the second half well and pressed looking to get level but the Keadue defence held firm and we’re always a danger on the break. Kyle Lafferty thought he’d got the home team back level with a fine strike from 25 yards but saw his effort well saved by the Keadue keeper. In the 72nd min Keadue made it 2-0 when Chris Greene got a free header from a corner. The home team tried hard to get a goal but couldn’t find way through the Keadue defence. Two team performances. This Saturday sees the turn of the reserve team to go on their travels to Moyle View Park to play Milford Utd reserves and see if they can also get their 1st points of the season after an opening day defeat at home. Kick off on Saturday at 2pm.CAPPRY ROVERS U16’sCappry Rovers played Ballybofey Utd in the cup at the Finn Valley on Saturday morning and claimed a comprehensive 7-0 win with Kaine McGlynn (2), Joel Bradley Walsh (2), Alex McGeehan, Oisin Gallen and Kieran Neeson getting the Cappry goals. This was their 2nd win from 2 games in the group.CAPPRY CRUSADERS U16’s Cappry Crusaders played their 1st game of the season with a very tough game against Bonagee Arcade in Bonagee on Sunday morning. The Cappry lads started very brightly and were very unlucky to go a goal down after Bonagee got a great goal after 8 minutes. Nothing seemed to go Cappry’s way and everything seemed to go in favour of the home side with goals that our goalkeeper could do nothing about. The scoreline at half time was 4-0. A few changes were made at half time with Odhran McGlynn coming out of goal and slotting in to midfield. A few of our lads heads dropped after Bonagee got their 5th. Odhran McGlynn got a great goal of his own with a cracker from outside the box which dipped over the keeper to make the score 5-1. Bonagee closed out the game with another 2 goals and claimed a 7-1 win. It must be said that the scoreline did not reflect the effort of the lads and we’re sure that things will improve as the season goes on. Next game is a home game against Ballyraine Celtic next Sunday morning with kick off at 11am. Come and show your support.CAPPRY ROVERS U14’sCappry Rovers travelled to Lagan on Friday evening looking to continue from where they left off the previous week and things seemed to be going their way when they opened the scoring in the 1st half. Lagan then pulled a goal back to make the scoreline 1-1 at the break. Cappry went back into a 3-1 lead with only 10 minutes to go, only for some bad defensive errors allowed Lagan to pull the game back to 3-3. Thomas McMenamin and Keiran Thompson scored for Cappry.CAPPRY CRUSADERS U12’s & CAPPRY COLTS 12’sCappry Crusaders played host to Cappry Colts in a fiercely contested cup game in Cappry park. It didn’t take very long for the game to spring into life when Conor McMenamin beat the offside trap and scored past the onrushing goalkeeper to put the Crusaders into a 1-0 lead. Their lead wasn’t to last too long and Eoin McGonagle soon had the Colts back on level terms with a low drive from outside the box into the bottom right hand corner. It was end to end after that with some very good defending from both teams. This game had everything, passion, determination, guts and some hard but fair tackles. Try as they could neither side could find a winner. It was a fair result.  All the lads that played should be very proud of themselves as they played out a very entertaining game. Well done also to all the coaches. Thanks also to referee John Coyle who officiated the game.UNDERAGE TRAININGKeep an eye on our Facebook page for details of training sessions. SOCCER: BRACE FROM COLM MELAUGH GIVES CAPPRY ALL THREE POINTS AGAINST MILFORD was last modified: September 15th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:soccerSportlast_img read more
