In 2018, the Lane Departmentlaunched a new undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity and offersboth undergraduate and graduate areas of emphasis in Cybersecurity.Significant resources are available to attract top-notch studentsinto the program. For instance, a recent grant from the NationalScience Foundation has created 120 annual scholarships over fiveyears for undergraduates studying cybersecurity. The Departmentalso offers a graduate area of emphasis in Computational DataScience. The Department is home to a master’s in SoftwareEngineering program that is fully online and highly ranked.Qualifications :Eligible candidates must hold an earned Doctorate degree incomputer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field,at the time of appointment. The successful candidates mustdemonstrate the ability or potential to (1) develop and sustain anindependent, internationally recognized and competitiveexternally-sponsored research program, (2) collaborate effectivelywithin multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and other researchersacross WVU campus, other academic and government institutions, aswell as the private sector, (3) teach lecture, laboratory or designcourses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and (4)perform professional service activities. A notable record ofpeer-reviewed publications and other scholarly activities,effective communication skills, and evidence of potential toattract competitive research funding are required for thisposition.
