Offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd isn’t among them.Aside from Bru McCoy, who is technically a transfer from USC, Shepherd is the lone holdout from the early signing period, and for good reason. He is committed to the Longhorns, but has some big-time options that he decided to explore with about a week until National Signing Day.As noted by Burnt Orange Nation, Shepherd has stripped his Twitter account of all things Texas.Texas A&M has been involved, and has eaten into the 247 Crystal Ball predictions for where he will wind up signing.43-percent of predictions have him as an Aggie, with the remaining 57-percent predicting that Shepherd will stick with his commitment.Over the weekend, Texas commit Javonne Shepherd took trips to Georgia and Alabama. He tweeted a photo from Athens:OV? #GoDawgs …? pic.twitter.com/sxJJNx33Lk— J. Shepherd (@JavonneShepherd) January 27, 2019Rivals previously reported the surprise trip to Alabama.OFFICIAL VISITORS:Javonne Shepherd’s trip to Alabama is a little bit of a surprise to some observers. Shepherd was on Alabama’s wish list early in the spring/summer prior to his commitment to the Longhorns.Find out who else will be in Tuscaloosa soon:https://t.co/LkDynHh3nX pic.twitter.com/jIn7TXD7go— BamaInsider.com (@bamainsider) January 24, 2019Per the Dallas Morning News, he also went to Texas A&M this month. Texas will get the last shot to hold on to Shepherd though, hosting the Houston native this weekend.Shepherd has an impressive frame at 6-foot-6, 327 pounds, and he’s rated as the No. 29 offensive tackle in the nation, per 247Sports Composite. He committed to the Longhorns last summer and is still being forecast to sign with Texas, per 247Sports’ Crystal Ball Prediction, but it was a little disconcerting that Shepherd decided not to sign during the early period.Since then, Shepherd has taken the opportunity to visit other programs. He’s taken official visits to Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama this month, but he does still have an official visit with Texas scheduled this weekend.National Signing Day is on February 6, a week from tomorrow.
